Try three questions

Three questions from the Canada (Quebec) bank, as you'll see them in the app.

  1. You are turning right at an intersection on a green light. Pedestrians are crossing the street you are turning into. What must you do?

    1. Turn behind them without slowing down
    2. Sound the horn so they hurry across
    3. Turn, because your green light gives you priority
    4. Yield to them before finishing your turn
    Show the answer

Answer: Yield to them before finishing your turn

A driver turning at an intersection must yield to pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road they are entering. The green light does not give the driver priority over them. (Highway Safety Code, s. 349)

  2. How can you usually recognize a regulatory (prescription) sign in Quebec?

    1. By its yellow background and diamond shape
    2. By its orange background and square shape
    3. By its white background and a red or green symbol
    4. By its blue background and a white pictogram
    Show the answer

Answer: By its white background and a red or green symbol

Most prescription signs are white and carry an obligation or prohibition symbol. A yellow diamond is used for danger signs instead (Road Signs Regulation, s. 2).

  3. You want to pass a cyclist on a two-lane road. What does the SAAQ recommend to give them the most room?

    1. Stay in your lane and pass close and fast
    2. Follow closely until an intersection
    3. Honk so they move onto the shoulder
    4. Move into the left lane if it is safe
    Show the answer

Answer: Move into the left lane if it is safe

The SAAQ recommends moving into the left lane, when safe, to give the cyclist as much room as possible. You must also slow down and keep the minimum distance set by law. (SAAQ, "Courtesy and sharing the road between users")
