Three questions from the Australia (Western Australia) bank, as you'll see them in the app.

  1. For the red P passenger rule, who counts as an experienced driver?

    1. Any passenger aged over 21 who holds a driver's licence of any class
    2. A passenger of the same class who has held a full licence for 12 months or more
    3. A passenger of the same class for 4 years or more, not counting provisional time

Answer: A passenger of the same class for 4 years or more, not counting provisional time

An experienced driver is a passenger authorised to drive the novice's class who has held that authorisation, other than provisionally, for periods adding up to at least 4 years. Age alone, or a shorter period, is not enough.

  2. A police officer regulating traffic holds up an open palm facing you. What must you do?

    1. Slow down, but go past if the way ahead looks clear to you
    2. Stop at the line, or a reasonable distance away, until waved on
    3. Stop only if the traffic lights are red; otherwise keep going
    Show the answer

Answer: Stop at the line, or a reasonable distance away, until waved on

An open palm facing you is the police stop signal. You must stop at the stop line, the edge of the intersection or a reasonable distance away, and stay stopped until the officer signals you to proceed.

  3. What does a 'no stopping' sign mean for a driver?

    1. You may stop briefly to drop off passengers
    2. You must not stop at all on that length of road
    3. You may stop for up to 2 minutes
    Show the answer

Answer: You must not stop at all on that length of road

A no stopping sign prohibits stopping altogether, unless a Code defence applies, such as an emergency or being forced to stop to avoid a collision. It is stricter than a no parking sign.
