RoadPrep helps learner drivers practise for their national theory test. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: the app has no accounts, and your study progress stays on your device. Other companies are involved: Google, which receives anonymous usage analytics; Sentry, which receives a report when the app breaks; OneSignal, which delivers notifications; Apple or Google, which handle the purchase of RoadPrep Pro; and Google again, which serves an ad only when you choose to watch one for more free questions. None of them is sent your answers or your progress.
Information the app keeps
Your answers, mistakes, bookmarks, mock test history, and your choices of country, licence code, language, theme and haptics are stored on your device by the operating system's own storage. They are never sent anywhere, and the developer cannot see them. Deleting the app removes them, and Settings has a Reset progress option that clears them at any time.
The app carries one demo question bank inside it. Every other country's bank is downloaded when you choose that country, which is also how a newly published bank reaches an app already installed. Downloading a bank fetches a file; it does not report which questions you looked at or how you answered them. Once a bank is on your device you can study it without an internet connection, and Settings has a Downloaded banks option that shows what they take up and removes them.
Purchases
RoadPrep Pro is bought once, through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own terms and privacy policies; the app is only told whether Pro has been bought, and never receives your name, your payment details or your store account.
Ads
RoadPrep shows no banners and no ads you did not ask for. On the free plan, when you have used the day's free questions, you can choose to watch an ad for a few more. Nothing about ads happens until you tap that button, and RoadPrep Pro never shows one.
These ads are served by Google, through Google AdMob. When you watch one, Google receives information about your device, such as its model, operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, and its advertising identifier where you allow it, and uses it to choose, measure and protect the ad. On iPhone and iPad, the app asks your permission before your advertising identifier can be used, and personalised ads are shown only if you allow it. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choices first; you can change them later from the same form. Otherwise the ads you see are not personalised. Google may process this data on servers outside the European Union.
Crash reports
When the app breaks, it sends a report so the fault can be found and fixed. The report describes the failure, not you: where in the app's own code it happened, your device model, its operating system version, the version of the app, and the few steps the app took just before, which can include the screens you moved through and the country you were studying. It carries no account, because there are none, and none of your answers, your results or your bookmarks.
These reports are handled on the developer's behalf by Sentry, on servers in the European Union, and are deleted after 90 days. Your IP address reaches Sentry as part of sending the report and is not stored with it.
Analytics
RoadPrep sends anonymous usage analytics so the developer can see which parts of the app are used, such as when the app is opened and which screens are visited. Events are tied to a random identifier generated on your device, not to your name, an account or any other information that identifies you. There is no account to tie it to. No screen recordings are made, and nothing about your answers, your results or your bookmarks is included.
These analytics are handled on the developer's behalf by Google, through Firebase Analytics, which also receives your device's model, operating system version and app version, and a country derived from your IP address. Google may process this data on servers outside the European Union.
Notifications
RoadPrep can send you notifications, such as reminders and news about the app. The app asks for your permission first, and you can turn notifications off at any time in your device's settings. Declining does not restrict any part of the app.
To deliver them, the app registers your device with OneSignal, which receives your device's push token, its model, operating system version and app version, your language, time zone and a country derived from your IP address, and a random identifier generated for your installation. None of this is tied to your name or an account, and none of your answers, results or bookmarks is included. OneSignal handles this data on the developer's behalf and may process it on servers outside the European Union.
Your choices
You can turn notifications off at any time in your device's settings, and Settings in the app has a Reset progress option that clears everything the app keeps on your device. Neither restricts any part of the app you have access to.
Children
RoadPrep is intended for people old enough to begin learning to drive and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with a new date above.
